Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a naturally occurring compound derived from the hemp plant. Unlike its cousin, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is non-psychoactive, which means it doesn't induce the "high" associated with marijuana use. Instead, CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system in the human body, a complex network of receptors responsible for regulating various bodily functions such as mood, pain perception, appetite, and sleep.
